With lower fuel and maintenance costs than cars with combustion engines, and with many governments offering tax incentives for ownership in some markets, electric vehicles present a far more attractive value for owners.

As air pollution and climate change become increasingly urgent issues, cities have been establishing low-emissions zones (LEZs) off-limits to many conventional vehicles. In the coming years, these LEZs will only become more prevalent.
