In Germany, cars get to use highways and motorways free of charge, but you should be aware that emission stickers are required in certain urban areas.
Numerous cities in Germany have set up environmental zones (indicated by the “Umwelt” sign) – these are places you can only drive your car into if it has a sticker certifying that its emission levels are acceptable. Stickers can be purchased at vehicle inspection companies and some larger car dealerships.
All vehicle categories: 8.90 EUR
You can also use Toll Tickets to purchase your emission sticker online. The Toll Tickets site provides further interesting reading on the whole topic of environmental zones.
To be even more sustainable, you could also rent a bike. With Marketplace, our in-car application, you can enjoy for example 30 minutes’ free biking in Berlin.
