This is the mode for those moments when you want to well and truly harness your car’s potential. The engine is more responsive, the DSG transmission keeps to higher revs, the power steering is reduced, the adaptive chassis stiffens for better performance and control, and the assists also adapt.
The Eco mode helps you to keep a lid on consumption. The engine reduces the torque, the transmission keeps to low revs, when you take your foot off the accelerator the car coasts, and the air-conditioning keeps to a fuel-saving regime.
The Individual mode is designed for you to customise the way you want your car to behave. You can take your pick of Normal, Eco and Sport for selected systems to come up with a combination that dovetails with your needs.
The Comfort mode, only available in conjunction with Dynamic Chassis Control, makes sure that your drive is as comfortable as possible. The main difference compared to Normal is that the adaptive dampers switch to Comfort so that you can comfortably deal with uneven road surfaces.
The Snow mode is designed exclusively for 4×4s. It adjusts the electronic assist settings to handle slippery surfaces. The ABS and ASR systems are modified, the power steering is stiffened and the accelerator is less responsive.
This mode makes it easier to negotiate sections that are difficult to pass by adjusting the characteristics of the engine, electronic assist systems and stability control systems. It helps with driving off, braking and hill descents.
Electronic Stability Control (ESC), the system that’s always ready to help you in critical situations, can be given a break for a while on sporty drives by switching to Sport mode. You can then enjoy oversteering on bends and some wheel-spins.
Škoda’s electrified models offer additional modes tailored to their specific drive types. The plug-in hybrid models offer an E-mode, for a purely electric drive, or a Hybrid mode, regulating interaction between the petrol engine and the electric motor. The all-electric Enyaq and Enyaq Coupé can be switched to Eco mode to maximise their range. The Traction mode, exclusive to all-wheel-drive EVs, is designed for driving on unpaved or slippery surfaces.
